About Scot Scoop News
Scot Scoop News, founded in 2010, is the school reporting website of Carlmont High School, and it is entirely run by students, from the writers to the editors and to the designers. The staff is made up of students from 10th grade and above, with many taking journalism in 10th grade and staying in it until their senior year. Scot Scoop covers a wide variety of topics, from world news to local stories and to opinion and sports pieces. The website also features Scotcenter, Carmlont's video broadcast show. The journalism class itself, as well as the website, are supervised by award-winning teacher Justin Raiser. Scot Scoop won the national Pacemaker Award in 2016.
What I do
As of now, I have been one of Scot Scoop's opinion writers for two years, though I occasionally write news stories and I even did a video during the first semester of my first year. I particularly enjoy writing about controversial topics, new legislation and laws, and personal narratives. I am hoping to become an editor by the end of my high school journalism career.
